Famiglia originaria di Napoli. Il giureconsulto Saverio prese parte in pro del partito Cesareo nella rivoluzione ricordata col nome di congiura di Macchia. Condannato nel capo dal governo spagnolo, fuggì a Vienna dove l'Imperatore Giuseppe I lo decorò del titolo di conte con diploma 15 ottobre 1707, con successione maschile primogenita. Con R.D. motu proprio 16 giugno 1904 e RR.LL.PP. 22 novembre 1906 fu rinnovato il suddetto titolo di conte (mpr.) ai discendenti di Giovan Domenico, fratello del primo concessionario. Tali sono i principii, che da sopracitati Autori si diedero a questa famiglia, ma per esser questo fatto assai remoto, e d'historia molto lontana, lasciamo perciò a più eruditi delle sacre antichità, e dell'historie l'investigarne il suo certo principio.
