Es ist französischen Ursprungs und seit dem 6. Jahrhundert im unteren Veltlin und genau in Caspano, dessen Feudalherrin sie war, ansässig. Der älteste der Paravicini, der uns an die Geschichte erinnert, war der Eberardo, der sich 1016 zum Herrn und Grafen von Chiavenna machte, von dem er 1065 von Kaiser Heinrich IV.
