Una familia de este apellido moró en la villa de Echano, del partido de Durango (Vizcaya), y a ella perteneció Juan de P. y Urgoitia, esposo de doña María Pérez de Elorza y ambos padres de Domingo de P. y Urgoitia y Pérez de Elorza, que casó con doña María de Elorza, a la que hizo madre de Gaspar de P. Urgoitia y Elorza, bautizado en Santa Maria de Echano el 5 de Enero de 1625, que contrajo matrimonio con doña Agustina de Ochoa Ureta y Salazar, y precrearon a Luis, Pedro y Melchor de P. Urgoitia y Ochoa, que nacieron en el lugar de Llanteno, del partido de Amurrio (Álava), y en 1692 iniciaron en la Chancillería de Valladolid expediente de vizcainía. Obtuvieron sentencia faborable en la villa de Bilbao el 10 de Septiembre de 1692, formando el Tribunal un Alcalde de los Hijosdalgo de la mencionada Chancillería y dos Diputados del Señorío.
