Fu il progenitore della famiglia Parena in Sicilia, un Federico, che passò, dagli Aragona in Napoli, ai servigi del Re Manfredo con carico di Maggiordomo, e conoscendolo abile, quel Re gli diede il reggimento della Calabria Citra e, dopo, del Regno di Sicilia, ove egli comprò Catania e molti altri feudi. Morì, lo stesso, in Capua, lasciando eredi dei suoi beni Giorgio e Tommaso, suoi figli, paggi della Regina Costanza, i quali per recuperar i beni paterni vennero col Re Pietro in Sicilia, dal quale riebbero i predetti beni. Da Tommaso nacque Federico, che si casò con la figlia di Ruggero, e dell'altro fratello Giorgio nacque Consalvo Ximenes di Parena, che si casò con Serena de Ivar, sorella di Garcia de Ivar, baroni dei feudi Calsi, Balici della Foresta e Massaria Vecchia. Questi feudi, dopo la morte del detto Garcia, pervennero a Giovannella, sua figlia, alla quale, morendo senza figliuoli,
