Linea secondogenita di una famiglia, patrizia di Benevento, discendente da Salvatore, zio di Ernesto, che per disposizione testamentaria aggiunse al proprio il cognome della estinta famiglia dei marchesi Perrotta, pure del Patrizio di Benevento (nato 5 ottobre 1807), sposata 4 novembre 1840 alla nobile Giustiniana dei marchesi Mosti (nata 10 gennaio 1805), vedova 27 luglio 1880. Riconosciuta con RR. LL. PP: 12 dicembre 1901 nel titolo di marchese. La presenza del motto nella bibliografia documentata della famiglia ci conferma l'avita nobiltà raggiunta della casata. Infatti l'origine del motto risale a circa il XIV secolo e deve essere ricercata in quei detti arguti che venivano scritti sui vessilli o bandiere dei cavalieri, esposti alle finestre delle locande in cui questi alloggiavano, in occasione dei tornei, e durante i tornei stessi.
