E' questo uno dei molteplici rami della antica famiglia dei Paravicini o Parravicini di Valtellina, che secondo la tradizione secolare discendono da Dominicus qm. Stratia, nobile della pieve d'Incino, che nel secolo XII, durante la guerra tra Milano e Como, sarebbe riparato in quella valle, o più probabilmente sarebbe stato inviato dai Milanesi, insieme ad altri nobili, ad esercitare la giurisdizione della metropoli su quella valle contro le pretese della città di Como, che allora per la prima volta tendeva alla formazione di un territorio soggetto alla propria giurisdizione entro i confini dell'episcopato. Nell'Elenco delle famigli nobili e titolate della Lombardia del 1895, pagina III, il ramo è appunto iscritto come oriundo della Valtellina. Pero dal XVII secolo si trasferì nel territorio di Varese e verso il 1640 un Giovanni di Sondrio, per sfuggire alla persecuzione religiosa, abbandonò i luoghi nati per trasferirsi colà.
