La famiglia ottenne il titolo comitale dal duca di Parma, Francesco Farnese, il quale con diploma 9 ottobre 1701, insigniva di quel titolo il nobile Carlo P. Deriva invece il titrolo di signore di P. per maschi primogeniti dalla investitura fu da di esso luogo fatta il 15 novembre 1756 con istrumento a rogito di Francesco Marcantolo notaio camerale a Camillo, avo del detto Carlo, che aveva acquistato il feudo dai conti Luigi e Giacomo Dal Verme. Fu ammessa agli onori del Patriziato di Milano con decreto 24 dicembre 1723 in persona del conte Cesare, figlio del predetto conte Carlo con Sovrana risoluzione del 10 aprile e 3 settembre 1816 il conte Gaetano, figlio del dottore collegiato e regio ducale senatore Carlo Francesco e nipote del conte Cesare, fu confermato nell'antica nobiltà e nel titolo di conte. Più tardi, cioè nel 1841, Carlo ed Ignazio, figlio ultrogeniti del conte Gaetano,
