Pasolino, llamado dall'Onda, vivió en Bolonia alrededor de 1200; en 1232 fue cónsul de Monte Padreno. Bartolo, su hijo, siguiendo la costumbre de la época, tomó el apellido de su padre y se decía que sus descendientes eran de la Ola. Fue capitán de Federico II en 1241, y a él, Alessandro Ruggini, Nerino Rasponi y Pietro Zierletta se les encomendó la custodia de la ciudad de Rávena en nombre del emperador. Su hijo, Theodosius, era el padre de Oderlaffo, un seguidor de los Lambertazzi y en 1270 tuvo que huir de Bolonia con otras familias gibelinas, estableciendo su hogar en Cotignola y Granarola, donde dominaba la poderosa familia Attendoli. Este Oderlaffo se llama nobilis vir en una escritura de Guido Novellino, un notario de Ravenna. Tenía por hijo Pasolino, quien hizo un testamento en 1369 a favor de su hijo Martino. Estos secuestraron a una joven llamada de Cotignola,
