Tra le Famiglie nobili di Cortona pompeggia la Passerina, che porporata per quasi due secoli, si rese degna di riceverne nelle loro proprie case di Cortona quel gran Pontefice Leone X. e Clemente VII. l'anno 1515. li 17. Novembre accompagnato da cinque Cardinali, molti Arcivescovi, Senatori, e Gentiluomini, con quella pompa descritta da molte penne; e tanto più pregiare si puole, quanto un tanto Vicario di Cristo era del sangue di questi Sereniss. Padroni dominanti, tanto da essi beneficati, e acerrimamente protetti, con arricchirgli di sì belli, e nobilissimi stati. Vantisi dunque la Famiglia Passerina, con ragione sopra l'altre di Cortona, per sì pregiata congiuntura di servire chi tanto doveva; marca in vero degna d'essere sempre riconosciuta da' suoi Principi, che la dominano, e che tutto il Mondo ha per ambizione d'essere ascritto al ruolo de' suoi servitori, che tanto protegge, e accarezza, che in vero la benignità ha sempre
