Le più antiche notizie storiche provano che questa stirpe ha goduto nobiltà in Crema fin dal secolo XIII. Un ramo antichissimo ebbe sede a Bologna ed è infatti illustrato dal M.se D. Carlo Salaroli bolognese nel suo manoscritto "Famiglie della Città di Bologna, loro origine, arme, case e sepolutre, loro dignità, sin all'anno 1740" conservato nella Biblioteca dell'Archiginnasio di Bologna. In questo manoscitto oltre la blasonatura dello stemma abbiamo notizia del Vescovo P. Auditore di Rota, Anziano, Ambasciatore, Dottore. Questa notiza prova non solo l'alta posizione del personaggio ma come la famiglia stessa fosse una delle più ragguardevoli della Città per le cariche coperte che conferivano la nobiltà trasmissibile.
