La famiglia è originaria di Ravello, al cui patriziato venne iscritta il 7 agosto 1580 nella persona di Orazio. Venne riconosciuta nella sua antica nobiltà in occasione delle prove fatte da Federico per l'ammissione nelle RR. Guardie del Corpo. Il P. Luigi Vincenzo (nato 1776, deceduto 1822) fu delegato generale apostolico dell'ordine dei predicatori professore di teologia nella Regia Università di Napoli ed autore delle Istituzioni Teologiche, La liturgia domenicana, gli Atti di S. Massimo Cumano ed altre opere pregevoli. Con Decreto Ministeriale 30 agosto 1900 la famiglia fu riconosciuta nel titolo di nobile, e posteriormente, con altro Decreto Ministeriale 30 agosto 1901, in quello di patrizio di Ravello. E' rappresentata da Michele, di Giulio, di Raffaele.
