Hebbe chiarissima origine la famiglia P. in Francia, e nella città di Leone, d'onde ella in Sicilia venne nella città di Siragusa, dove Corrado P. Fù della Regina Maria eletto Mastro Rationale, della sua Reginal camera nel 1392 il cui figlio Gerardo fù anche Maestro Secreto, ò Procuratore, e l'altro figlio Nicolò fù Castellano di Leontini, ove fece la sua residenza, la cui figlia Alessia fù moglie di Luiggi Bardaro Capitano di Leontini nel 1410. Acquistò anche Nicolò la Baronia di Cariatto, e successe in tutti i benei paterni, e del fratello Gerardo, che si morì senza lasciar prole, à costui successe suo figlio Gerardo, che fù molte volte Capitanio, e Senator di Leontini, sotto la Regina Donna Isabella fù Governador della Camera Reginale nel 1492. Il cui figlio Antonio seguì a lui nel feudo di Cariato, e visse con molto splendore questa famiglia cosi in Siragusa, come in Leontini.
