I Patrizo sono antichissimi nobili senesi, ed un B. Francesco, dell'Ordine dei Servi di Maria, ed un Guido Giordano Patrizo, viventi nel 1354, resero chiaro questo cognome sin da quell'epoca remota. Dagli spogli del cavaliere Jacovacci, rileviamo che nel 1426 viveva in Roma Maria, moglie di Paolo Patrizo, del rione di Campo Marzio; ma soltanto nel 1537 i Patrizo presero stabile dimora nella città eterna, in persona di "Dominus Archangelus Patritii de Senis". Egli fu avvocato concistoriale, come suo figlio Costanzo, che nel 1564 appare col titolo di "Nobilis Dominus", mentre nel 1568 "Patritius de Patritiis" è detto "Magnificus Dominus". Costui morì nel 1611 e fu sepolto in Santa Maria Maggiore nella Cappella fondata da Giovanni Patrizo. Presso di lui riposa Costanzo, Tesoriere della Regia Camera Apostolica. I Patrizo a Roma sono estinti, e soltanto si conservano i rami di Napoli, rappresentati dal Balì Luigi Patrizo, duca di Castelgaragnone e
