Antica e assai nobile famiglia originaria di Bologna, passata a risiedere in Pistoia nel 1483, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. Alla cittadinanza pistoiese fu ascritto Luca, di Giovanni Gasparino. La casata, nel dispiegarsi dei lustri, è sempre riuscita a produrre una serie di uomini che hanno reso illustre il suo nome, nei pubblici impieghi, nelle professioni liberali ed ecclesiastiche e nel servizio militare. Giovanni, prefetto di Terracina, fu poi capitano generale delle guardie del Pontefice Pio II, a cui fu carissimo; Guidotto, di Luca, celebre capitano e famoso per le sue imprese contro i Cosimeschi nel 1530, fu poi al servizio dell'Imperatore di Germania nel 1543 e, tornato in patria, fu gonfaloniere di essa nel 1553.
