Giovanni de' Pasquali, detto per soprannome da Pazzano perchè derivato da un tal luogo, fu l'autore dell'antica e nobile famiglia Pazzani o Pacciani, la quale fu ammessa nel 1471 alla cittadinanza modenese, e sullo scorcio del XVII secolo fu elevata dal Duca Alfonso IV alla dignità di cavalieri, indi di conti. Di questa famiglia non si hanno più notizie dal 1761. Altro ramo. Antica e nobile famiglia originaria di Bologna. Altra famiglia alzò per arma.
