Giovanni de 'Pasquali, apelidado por Pazzano por derivar de tal lugar, foi o autor da antiga e nobre família Pazzani ou Pacciani, que foi admitida em 1471 aos cidadãos de Modena e, no final do século XVII, foi criada pelo Afinal, o duque Alfonso IV à dignidade dos cavaleiros. Não há notícias desta família desde 1761. Outro ramo. Família antiga e nobre originária de Bolonha. Outra família levantou suas armas. De azul, a uma árvore verde, encimada por uma estrela dourada, e danificada por um leão ileopolitano da mesma, todos apoiados por um terraço verde; com a cabeça de Anjou. Era o costume das famílias mais antigas, que após a queda do Império Romano, naquele dilúvio dos bárbaros, tendo seus sobrenomes, assim como seus estudos, e outras coisas bonitas perdidas e deixadas apenas com nomes simples, desenhavam seus sobrenomes , e sua família por nomes próprios paternos e pelos principais.
