The ancient nobility of this family was recognized, by decree of the IR Government Council of Milan, March 26, 1788, in favor of the brothers Don Camillo Gerolamo and Canon Don Francesco Maria, sons of Don Antonio Maria and D. Costanza Salari. It was then confirmed, with Sovereign Resolution January 28, 1817, in favor of the same Fr Camillo, Girolamo and Fr Francesco Maria, as well as in favor of Fr Michele and Fr Carlo, also children of the aforementioned Fr Antonio and Fr Costanza Salari. With another Sovereign resolution of 15 August the same year it was also confirmed in favor of Pietro, another son of Antonio. From the evidence presented to the Governing Council, it appears that the four brothers mentioned above descend from a Giovanni Francesco Griringhelli, qualified "magnificent and noble" in public deeds of 1526 and 1534.
