La antigua nobleza de esta familia fue reconocida, por decreto del Consejo de Gobierno IR de Milán, el 26 de marzo de 1788, a favor de los hermanos Don Camillo Gerolamo y Canon Don Francesco Maria, hijos de Don Antonio Maria y D. Costanza Salari. Luego se confirmó, con Resolución Soberana el 28 de enero de 1817, a favor del mismo P. Camillo, Girolamo y el Padre Francesco Maria, así como a favor del Padre Michele y el Padre Carlo, también hijos de los mencionados Padre Antonio y Costanza Salari. Con otra resolución soberana del 15 de agosto del mismo año, también se confirmó a favor de Pietro, otro hijo de Antonio. De la evidencia presentada al Consejo de Gobierno, parece que los cuatro hermanos mencionados anteriormente son descendientes de un Giovanni Francesco Griringhelli, calificado como "magnífico y noble" en escrituras públicas de 1526 y 1534.
