Un PeccioZ, il quale sarebbe vissuto intorno al 1080, vuolsi che sia il capostipite della famiglia di Ravenna; ma pare meglio accertata la sua discendenza da un Cristoforo, vivente verso la fine del secolo XIII. Da tempo antico essa ebbe seggio nel Consiglio generale, il che costituiva patriziato ereditario, e venne poscia decorata del titolo comitale, sembra nel 1660. Paolo nato nel 1451, comandò le milizie di Girolamo Riario; Gio. Battista morì nel 1512 alla difesa della città contro Gastone di Foix; Cesare, nato 1518, è ricordato come poeta di merito; vari altri di questa famiglia nei due secoli seguenti si applicarono con successo alle lettere, alla filosofia, alle matematiche, alla giurisprudenza. Il ramo primogenito si estinse nel 1820 col canonico Egidio, provicario della diocesi di Ravenna. Ippolito (1678-1754), appartenente alla linea secondogenita, sposò nel 1718 una Scali di Bologna, e il loro figlio Filippo (1729-1794), avendo avuto nel
