They come from a Rosso della Pezia who lived at the end of the 12th century. They owned property in Averara with great privileges and exemptions. In 1765 Giuseppe was appointed councilor of the supreme economic council in Austrian Lombardy, and Giovanni-Edoardo, his son, was declared noble by the heraldic court by decree of 31 August 1775. Calvi reports it in his work entitled "Il Patriziato Milanese", printed in Milan, by Borroni in 1875. There are various opinions about the origin of this family. We find certain memories of it towards the middle of the thirteenth century. He enjoyed nobility in numerous Lombard cities.
