La famiglia di Pavia figura nell'elenco delle 168 famiglia alle quali fu affidato da Carlo V imperatore il governo di quella città nell'anno 1549. Ha per capostipite Francesco, testante nel 1602 a rogito del notaio Fabio Crivelli di Pavia, a favore dei figli Antonio Maria, Bonifacio e Cesare. Dal Cesare deriva una linea, oggi estinta che nel 1778 era rappresentata da Girolamo, appartenente al Collegio dei nobili giurisperiti e al ceto decurionale di Pavia, e che con Sovrana Risoluzione 27 novembre 1816 ottenne la conferma della antica nobiltà in persona dei fratelli Giacomo e Antonio, figli del predetto giureconsulto Girolamo. Da Bonifacio discende invece la linea tuttora fiorente, che ottenne il riconoscimento del titolo di patrizio di Pavia per maschi con decreto ministeriale 27 luglio 1916.
