Secondo il Passerini, che dei Pecorilla ha avuto occasione di occuparsi in una di quelle monografie che sono modelli del genere, capostipite della famiglia sarebbe da considerarsi quell'Ildebrandino, di Geraldino, soprannominato "Pecora", che il 26 agosto 1148 investì di un pezzo di terra e di una vigna, posta a Farlacco nel Pistoiese, Baldoro di Martino, liberandolo dall'onere dell'angarìa e della manenterìa. Gianni, d'Ildebrandino, taverniere, portò il domicilio a Firenze, e un figlio di lui, Ildebrandino, detto "Dino", seppe acquistarvi importanza grandissima. Era ascritto ai beccai, ed aveva vari deschi in mercato ed una taverna a comune con i fratelli Guido e Cambio. Di sentimenti democratici, ebbe parte importante nelle riforme del 1282 e del 1293: sedè quattro volte tra i Priori. Morì nel 1301, lasciando un figlio, Filippo detto "Lippo", ascritto agli speziali.
