Die Mugnos, die sich auf einige syrakusanische Manuskripte stützen, wollen diese römische Familie, die von einem syrakusanischen Ritter namens Lucio, dem Sohn des römischen Ritters Aulo-Lucio, gegründet wurde, der die Stadt Syrakus unter dem Reich von Decius und Valentian regierte. Von ihm ein Lucius P., so genannt, um den rechten Fuß wie einen Hasen zu haben. Die syrakusanische St. Lucia gehörte zu dieser Familie.
