En la antigüedad se llamaba Peleoni. En 1617 los hermanos Francesco y Stefano obtuvieron el privilegio del noble arma. El Capitán Gianfrancesco se mudó a Piamonte, y en 1690 su hijo Claudio Maurizio ya poseía parte de Parpaglia. Tommaso Filippo, hijo de Claudio, comandante de Vercelli y teniente general de caballería, compró el tercero de Semian y la mitad de Perano en 1731, y en 1771 el abogado Carlo, que había comprado la otra mitad del feudo, se erigió en condado. La presencia del lema en la bibliografía documentada de la familia confirma la nobleza ancestral de la familia. De hecho, el origen del lema se remonta a alrededor del siglo XIV y debe buscarse en esos dichos ingeniosos que estaban escritos en las pancartas o banderas de los caballeros, que se muestran en las ventanas de las posadas donde se hospedaron, durante los torneos y durante los mismos torneos.
