Nobile casato siciliano, conosciuto inizialmente come Impellizzeri o Pellizzeri ma poi trascritto anche come Pelizzer o Pellizzer, propagatosi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia e del Mondo. Secondo quanto viene tramandato, la famiglia fu portata dalla Catalogna in Sicilia da un Antonio, cavaliere di Valencia, i di cui figli furono al servizio di Re Martino, dal 1392. Un altro Antonio si stabilì in Genova, rendendosi progenitori dell'omonima famiglia ligure ma i di lui figli passarono in Modica con l'incarico di Governatori, nel 1486. Si ricordano, inoltre: un Francesco, maestro razionale della Camera Reginale della regina Bianca, che si stabilì in Siracusa; un Paolo, di lui figlio, capitano della milizia in detta città nel 1485; altro Paolo, barone di S.
