Ancient family of Ferrara origin, formerly known as the Pellicciari, which has spread over the centuries in various regions of Italy. The first of which we have sure news is Lorenzo to whom, in 1177, some important assignments were entrusted by the Municipality of Florence. Menabue (1230) was judge and ambassador; Bartolo (1240) became a member of the council and trustee of the municipality; Bartolomeo, notary and referendum of Casa d'Este; Giacomo, judge of the Municipality, courtier and favorite of Alberto d'Este, changed the surname to Pellizzari and had two children, Iacopo and Guglielmo.
