Há em Espanha diferentes casas solarengas nas quais se vêm as armas dos Penedo aqui indicadas, as quais são mencionadas em armoriais antigos e modernos como sejam o " Repertorio de blasones de la comunidad hispánica " da autoria de Vicente De Cadenas y Vicent , do Instituto Salazar y Castro. A estas são, no entanto, reconhecidas algumas variantes, como sejam um escudo esquartelado tendo no primeiro e quarto quartéis uma cruz ancorada de ouro e no segundo e terceiro cinco sinos de ouro, postos em aspa, em campo azul, conhecendo-se ainda outra variante que é a de cinco besantes de ouro, também postos em aspa, em campo vermelho. Os genealogistas espanhóis são ainda unânimes em considerar que o Solar mais antigo desta família é na região de Rada, de onde, posteriormente, se espalharam pelos restantes reinos peninsulares, e às Ilhas canárias e Baleares, das quais passaram à América do Sul, aí existindo, ainda hoje, diversas ilustres famílias de apelido Penedo.
