Cette famille est répandue en Languedoc et en Auvergne, et connue depuis le commencement du XIVème siècle. Bernard, damoiseau, Seigneur de la Burquière, petit-fils de Raymond, est rappelé, ainsi que son épouse Marie de Barthe, dans une quittance donnée par Guillaume leur fils le 3 février 1388. Guillaume, chevalier, est qualifié de noble et puissant seigneur dans une reconnaissance de trois cents écus d'or provenant de la dot de sa femme Navarre d'Orbessan du 30 mai 1408. Georges son fils, chevalier, fut chargé de procuration, le 28 février 1443, par le comte Gaston de Foix qui le qualifie de 'cousin', à l'effet de terminer des différends qu'il avait avec le sénécal de Toulouse. Cette maison a été admise aux honneurs de la cour en 1780. Elle avait été maintenue dans sa noblesse en Guienne le 7 février 1667, par M. Pellot, intendant, sur preuves remontant à 1552.
