La presenza dei Z. inTortona è segnalata da un Leonardo Zanonus religioso nel 1389 presso il convento della SS.Trinità dell'ordine Eremitano di S.Agostino; e per circa un secolo non si hanno altre notizie. Naturalmente la famiglia godeva censo e prestigio poiché il duca Ludovico il Moro il 18 aprile1486 investiva ad Eustacchio Z. il luogo di Pizzocorno già antico feudo dei marchesi Malaspina castellani di Oramala che gli stessi, circa sette mesi dopo e precisamente il 6 novembre riacquistano da detto Z. Il 19 giugno 1560 Bartolomeo Z. veniva ascritto al decurionato tortonese ed aggregato al casato Casanova; successivamente Giov. Domenico il 21 ottobre 1705 era ammesso al casato Tre Case e l'11 gennaio 1777 vi appartenevano ancora i nipoti Boniforte, residente in Torino, Bartolomeo capitano dei granatieri del reggimento di Tortona, don Carlo abate commendatario di S.Bovo residente in Roma e Felice maggiore al servizio di S.M. Imperiale residente
