Famiglia oriunda di Varese. A favore di un ramo di essa, oggi estinto, con decreto marzo 1791, l'I.R. Consiglio di Governo riconobbe l'antica generosa nobiltà, in persona di don Giuseppe e abate don Gio. Battista, figli del nobile ed illustrissimo sig. don Gabrio, segretario della città di Milano. Lo stesso don Giuseppe predetto fu poi confermato nell'antica nobiltà con Sovrana Risoluzione 10 aprile 1816. In occasione del riconoscimento del 1791, il Consiglio di Governo prese specialmente in considerazione il privilegio dell'imperatore Ferdinando II, dato a Ratisbona il 20 agosto 1630, con cui, considerata l'antica nobiltà della famiglia, concesse a Bernardo di inquartare la sua arma con quella di suo genero, Camillo Colombani. Inquartato; nel 1.° e 4.° d'azzurro, ad un bue rampante di rosso, sostenuto da una terrazza di verde, ed accompagnato da tre pere d'oro, ordinate in capo, le code in alto; il bue del 1.° rivoltato; nel 2.° o 3.° di rosso, ad una torre d'argento, aperta e finestrata del campo, accompagnata in capo da due stelle di otto raggi d'oro.
