Quest'illustre famiglia, originaria della Spagna, si trapiantò in Taranto, nel corso della dominazione spagnola, ed i primi che vi figurarono furono: Martino, Ernando e Giovanni, dai quali derivarono tre rami. Appartengono al terzo ramo un Giovanni, capitano di gran valore, il quale nel 1552 fu segretario di Carlo V, e poi, del di lui figlio Filippo, un Francesco, figlio del precedente, capitano della milizia tarantina, il quale nel 1571 prese parte alla famosa battaglia di Lepanto, e nel 1594 combattè contro il rinnegato calabrese Bassà Assan Cicala, nel qual fatto ottenne il grado di sergente maggiore. Ultimo di questa nobile famiglia fu Giovanni, scomparso nella prima metà del secolo XVIII. Altro ramo. D'origine spagnuola la si trova stabilita in Verona tra il 1653 ed il 1682. Un Angelo Francesco, del fu Cesare, verso la fine del XVII secolo era fregiato del titolo di conte, ed il conte Paolo nel 1800
