Família italiana que veio para Portugal na pessoa de Micer Filipe Pallastrelli, na comitiva do infanta D. Leonor mulher do Infante D. Duarte, depois Rei. Era o dito Micer Filipe cavaleiro, natural de Placência, na Lombardia filho de Micer Gabriel Pallastrelli, fidalgo natural de Placência, e de sua mulher Madama Bertolina. Micer Filipe Pallastrelli ou Palestrelo ou P. formas aportuguesadas do seu apelido esta última a definitiva, teve do Rei D. João, em 1437, a mercê de duas casas na Rua de Sub- Ripas, em Coimbra, e diz-se que no ano de 1433 ou no de 1437 o mesmo Príncipe lhe cofirmou suas armas. Foi casado com Catarína Vicente de quem teve: Rafael P., do qual provêm os Perestrelos de Torres Vedras, comforme dizem os genealogistas; Bartolemu P. fidalgo da casa do Infante D. João, filho do Rei D. João I, que o mandou povoar a ilha do Porto Santo, e, depois, a da Madeira, se recebeu com Catarína ou Brites Furtado de Mendonça, de quem teve geração feminina que se propagou na ilhs, e casou segunda vez o com Isabel Moniz irmã de Garcia Moniz, de quem houve Bartolomeu P., casado e com larga geração, do seu apelido, e D. Filipa Moniz mulher de Cristóvão Colombo descobridor e primeiro almirante das Índias Orientais, progenitores dos Duques de Verágua, D. Isabel P. de Mesquita ou Branca Dias P., como alguns lhe cahamam, que foi amiga de D. Pedro de Noronha, arcebispo de Lisboa, com geração, e Catarina P., que se matrimoniou com Aires Anes de Beja.
