La famiglia ebbe il feudo di Castel d'Elci e poscia quella di Cartoceto. Agnese, moglie del conte Antonio di Montefeltro, appartiene a questa famiglia, la quale nel 1454 diede un Vescovo alla Chiesa Osimana nella persona di Giovanni. Nel corso dei secoli famiglie omonime della stessa si trasferirono in varie regioni d'Italia, donde ne acquisirono la nobiltà e vi furono accolti nelle importanti cariche della città dove ebbero dimora, una di esse ebbe per arma: Troncato di verde e d'azzurro alla fascia d'oro sulla troncatura accompagnata in capo da una stella dello stesso di otto punte e in punta da due crescenti montanti d'argento posti in fascia.
