Antichissima famiglia di Cingoli, della cui nobiltà si ha memoria fin dall'VIII secolo. Ebbe uomini insigni che ricoprirono alte cariche civili ed ecclesiastiche. Sono da ricordare un Felice, che fu medico rinomato, si diede alla vita monastica e morì in concetto di santità, tanto da essere conosciuto col titolo di Beato Felice. Buon letterato e dantista di non comune valore fu Francesco; questi dal cugino, il cardinale Campanelli, ebbe l'obbligo di aggiungere il cognome Campanelli e di inquartarne lo stemma. Il 7 aprile 1829 il Sommo Pontefice Pio VIII decorò Francesco e suoi discendenti maschi e femmine in infinito del titolo comitale. Il suddetto Francesco fu cameriere segreto di spada e cappa di Pio VIII. La famiglia è iscritta nell'Elenco Nobile Ufficiale Italiano con i titoli di nobile di Cingoli (maschi e femmine), conte (maschi e femmine).
