Ancient and noble Aragonese family, called Perrella, Perrello, Perellos or Periglios, who, as Mugnos well remembers, was illustrated by that Raimondo, educated at the French court, where he remained in service until 1380, and obtained prestigious positions diplomats and soldiers also by his natural sovereign, the king of Aragon. In 1384 he became Governor of Roussillon and in 1390 he inherited the title of Viscount of Perellos and Roda from his father; in the years 1392-1393 he took part in the military campaigns of Sicily and Sardinia, while in 1394 he was sent to Cyprus to concert the marriage of the infant Isabella, sister of the king of Aragon John I, with the Prince of Antioch. In May 1396, when he was at the papal court in Avignon, he was given the task of negotiating with Pope Benedict XIII on the threat of French troops to invade Catalonia and oust
