Antica ed assai nobile famiglia toscana originaria di Pisa il cui blasone è conservato presso l'Archivio di Stato di Firenze. Lo stemma della famiglia Perignani di Pisa è così blasonato: Troncato: nel 1° d'oro, all'aquila dal volo spiegato di nero; nel 2° d'argento, all'albero sradicato al naturale, accollato da una biscia di verde; con la fascia d'azzurro passata sulla troncatura. Altro ramo. Famiglia patrizia e antica di Forlì. Paolo di Giovan-Pietro ottenne per sè e suoi discendenti la nobiltà romana per diploma 13 Gennaio 1616. Aggregata al patriziato forlivese il 20 Maggio 1693. Varie famiglie omonime si propagarono in diverse regioni d'Italia. Le notizie bibliografiche che ci vengono tramandate sono riconducibili a questa casata di cui ne abbiamo tratto nota. Famiglia patrizia e antica di Forlì.
