Família antiga e muito nobre de Polcevera e Albenga, mas se estabeleceu em Gênova nos anos 1400, que se espalharam ao longo dos séculos em várias regiões da Itália. A origem deste sobrenome pode ser encontrada no nome próprio latino, de origem grega Perdice, Perdicis (= "perdiz"). Em 1528, os membros da família Pernice foram atribuídos ao hotel Lercari. Além disso, essa família, no desenrolar de seu brilho, sempre conseguiu produzir uma série de homens que tornaram seu nome famoso, no setor público, nas profissões liberais e eclesiásticas e no serviço militar. Entre eles, sem arriscar nada ao valor dos omitidos, existem: Raffaele, ancião da República Genovesa em 1420; Giovanni, capitão de um navio do exército Biagio Assereto, na famosa batalha de Ponza em 1435; Bernardo, ancião da República Genovesa em 1459 e 1467; Bartolomeo, mencionado nos Anais de Giustiniani em 1462 por ter descoberto o "alumiere" navegando na ilha
