La data più antica sotto la quale si trova il nome di questa famiglia è quella del 5 settembre 1253, in atti del notaro Gianni de Predono, in cui figura un Alberto, console dei Piacentini in Genova. Nel 1528 entrarono nei Doria in persona di Pietro. Nel 1625 Carlo, applicatosi fin da fanciullo alle belle lettere, fattosi sacerdote, teologo, pubblicò a Madrid in idioma spagnolo: "Honores mercedidos de la Repubblica de Genova". Per l'ingresso dei nuovi senatori a palazzo il I gennaio 1758 disse l'orazione di rito. Felice, qm. Agostino, che fu poi nel 1759 governatore di Chiavari.
