Nobile casato originario di Camerino, ammesso alla nobiltà di Recanati nel secolo XVI, stabilitosi in Filottrano nel Cinquecento. Ladislao Re di Napoli, nel 1414, concesse a Venanzio e a Pier-Antonio Perozzi, del fu cavaliere Perozzo, l'investitura della terra di Bacecco e del castello di Araste, negli Abruzzi. Lo stesso Pier-Antonio fu ambasciatore dei Fiorentini presso varie Corti. Un altro Venanzio vesti l'abito del S. M.0. Gerosolim. nel 1594 ed un Perozzo fu fregiato dell'Ordine di S. Stefano di Toscana, nel 1597. Della presenza della famiglia a Camerino rimangono una leggenda ed un affresco. Secondo la leggenda, Giulio Cesare da Varano, signore di Camerino, si invaghì di una delle nipoti del cavalier Perozzo, Gentilina.
