Très illustre maison de la Bretagne, d'une haute antiquité, dont les premiers auteurs connus sont: Guillaume, écuyer, dans une montre de 1375, ratifie le traité de Guérande en 1381; Alain, épouse en 1390 Tiphaine du Chastel; Guillaume et Guillaume son neveu défendaient Guingamp pour le comte de Penthièvre en 1419; Maurice, page du roi Henri II en 1553; trois chevaliers de l'ordre en 1626; Maurice, épouse vers 1600 Anne Urvoy, dame de Crénan, dont: Pierre, maréchal de camp en 1649, grand échanson de France, mort en 1670: Pierre, fils du précédent, lieutenant général en 1693 et gouverneur de Cazal, tué au siège de Crémone en 1702, frère de Marie, fille d'honneur de la reine Marie-Thérèse en 1673. La branche de Crénan a été substituée en 1654 aux nom et armes de Bueil de Courcillon, et s'est fondue dans Bellingant et Lannion.
