Esta antigua e ilustre familia toma su origen y nombre de Persiceto, de la cual un Corrado tenía el señorío del emperador Arrigo. La Sicilia se estableció en la época de Federico II, a quien Giovanni P. había seguido en Soria, y tenía el feudo de la granja de Scordia en el territorio de Lentini. A mediados del siglo XVII, una rama de esta familia se trasplantó, primero a Roma, luego a los Abruzos, estableciéndose en Aquila. Sin embargo, un Nuncio P. regresó a Sicilia, donde la rama más antigua se había extinguido, y Fernando IV le confió varios cargos importantes, incluido el de secretario de Estado para el departamento eclesiástico. Entre los muchos que dejaron una clara reputación de esta noble familia, debemos recordar a un soldado Eduardo bajo el mando del rey Manfredi, de quien en 1263 fue investido con el señorío de Prata que perdió la vida
