Una familia triestina muy antigua e ilustre que se extendió a lo largo de los siglos en varias regiones de Italia. La cognición es anterior al siglo XVII y debe derivarse del nombre germánico "Litera" o de la aféresis de nombres lombardos como "Rupertus", "Cunipertus", "Paulipertus" y similares. Los nombres de los Perti se recuerdan en textos, escrituras notariales y contratos para la venta de tierras y casas desde tiempos muy remotos, de los cuales parece que estaban en una condición rica y noble. Tenemos un ejemplo de esto en una escritura notarial redactada en Assoviuno el 15 de julio de 1624 con el arcipreste Giambattista Perti; posteriormente, Giovanni fue arcipreste en Valtellina hasta 1705. Giacomo Antonio (1661-1756) fue un compositor activo sobre todo en Bolonia, donde durante más de sesenta años fue maestro de capilla en la catedral de San Pedro y luego en la basílica de San Petronio.
