Carlos II, rey de España, con los diplomas el 15 de mayo de 1670 otorgó los títulos de caballería y nobleza a Antonio Pes, de Tempio, y a sus hijos y descendientes varones. La concesión del arma noble se incluyó en el diploma de caballería. De su matrimonio con Maria Rizzio la cav. cabeza. don Antonio, que se casó con su prima Caterina Pes y murió antes de 1686. Su hijo cav. cabeza. Don Francesco se casó con Maddalena Misorro el 8 de octubre de 1684 en el Templo y fue el caballero más notable de Gallura por su sentido, valor y riqueza. Obtuvo el título de marqués de Villamarina de Carlos III, rey de España, con un diploma fechado el 27 de febrero de 1711, transmisible a sus hijos y descendientes en términos primigenios. Siendo la segunda voz de la Estación Militar, con otros caballeros sardos trajo las llaves
