Carlos II, rei da Espanha, com os diplomas de 15 de maio de 1670, concedeu os títulos de cavalaria e nobreza a Antonio Pes, de Tempio, e a seus filhos e descendentes do sexo masculino. A concessão da arma nobre foi incluída no diploma de cavalaria. De seu casamento com Maria Rizzio, a cav. nob. Dom Antonio, que se casou com sua prima Caterina Pes e morreu antes de 1686. O filho deles cavou. nob. Don Francesco casou-se com Maddalena Misorro em 8 de outubro de 1684 no templo e foi o cavalheiro mais notável de Gallura por seu senso, valor e riqueza. Ele recebeu o título de marquês de Villamarina de Carlos III, rei da Espanha, com um diploma datado de 27 de fevereiro de 1711, transmissível a seus filhos e descendentes em termos primogeniais.
