Carlo II, re di Spagna, coi diplomi in data 15 maggio 1670 concedeva i titoli di cavalierato e di nobiltà ad Antonio Pesciotta, da Tempio, ed ai suoi figli e discendenti maschi. Nel diploma di cavalierato era pur compresa la concessione dell'arma gentilizia. Dal suo matrimonio con Maria Rizzio nacque il cav. nob. don Antonio, che sposò la cugina Caterina Pesciotta e morì prima del 1686. Il loro figlio cav. nob. don Francesco, sposò in Tempio l'8 ottobre 1684 donna Maddalena Misorro e fu il gentiluomo più notevole della Gallura per senno, valore e ricchezze. Egli ebbe da Carlo III, re di Spagna, con diploma 27 febbraio, 1711, il titolo di marchese di Villamarina, trasmissibile ai figli e discendenti maschi in linea primogeniale. Essendo seconda voce dello Stamento Militare, con altri gentiluomini sardi portò a Torino a Vittorio Amedeo II le chiavi del Castello e Città di Cagliari. Il
