Tanto la dinastia di Alessandria, quanto quella di Vercelli traevano origine da Pettenato, terra della provincia dell'Umbria. I primi erano fra i ghibellini del popolo, e nel 1170 presero parte coi Ghibellini alla edificazione della cappella maggiore del Duomo. Erano delle otto case custodi delle reliquie. Enrico nel 1437 fu dal Duca Filippo-Maria visconti nominato commissario generale di Parma, e nel 1439 fu inviato alla riviera del Garda per sedere la ribellione di quel popolo contro il dominio visconteo, e fu infine questore di Milano; Priamo nel 1566 fu mandato dal Pontefice Pio V al governo della città di Fermo, e due anni dopo passò a quello di Spoleto.
