Antica e nobile famiglia tedesca, detta Pfadler o Pfahler, originaria della Baviera, di chiara e ancestrale virtù, che si è diffusa in tutto il mondo, nel corso dei secoli. Non essere sorpreso dalla versione con doppio cognome. Negli antichi testi tedeschi le lettere "d" e "h" erano spesso confuse. Secondo quanto tramandato, questa illustre famiglia fu nobilitata dall'imperatore Carlo V con un diploma il 18 luglio 1531, concesso ad un Giorgio P. che ricevette anche la concessione dello stemma. I suoi discendenti erano funzionari di zecca in varie parti della Germania e alcuni di loro si stabilirono in Prussia a metà del XVII secolo. Il primo ad andare in Prussia fu probabilmente un Ernst, già morto nel 1657. Suo figlio, Georg Ernst, divenne un ricco proprietario terriero prussiano. Inoltre, questa famiglia, in tutte le età, si è sempre distinta, grazie alle figure di spicco nel servizio pubblico, nelle libere professioni
