Apellido de origen vasco, de Vizcaya. Fueron sus primeros y más antiguos ascendientes, Don Juan de P. Arbayza Artea y Doña Catalina de Arbayza Artea, Señores de la Casa Solariega Infanzona de Picaza. Hijo de Don Juan fue Don Andrés de P. Arbayza Artea, de la referida Casa Solar Infanzona de P., nacido en Orozco y bautizado en la parroquial de San Juan Baustista, el 30 de noviembre de 1616. Casó el 12 de agosto de 1647, con Doña Juana de Rotaeche Ochoa del Gury Gartu, siendo padres de: Doña Ana de P. Rotaeche, bautizada en la parroquial de San Bartolomé de Olarte, valle de Orozco el día 3 de enero de 1668, que contrajo matrimonio con Don Ascensio de Guezala y Goicoechea, en San Juan de Bilbao, a 22 de octubre de 1691. Fueron progenitores de: Don José de Guezala P. Goicoechea y Rotaeche, I del nombre bautizado en la anteiglesia de Zeanury el 14 de mayo de 1696 y que se estableció en Tenerife, siendo Capitán del Regimiento Provincial de Garachico, por Real Despacho de 15 de octubre de Casas Solares Infanzonas de Guezala, P., Goioechea y Rotaeche. Casó en Santa Cruz de Tenerife, en la parroquia de la Concepción, el 17 de febrero de 1727, con Doña María Garcés de Cabrera, de cuyo matrimonio hubo cuatro hijos.
