Antica ed assai illustre famiglia messinese, di chiara e provata nobiltà, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia. L'origine di tal cognominizzazione, al dir di autorevoli genealogisti, andrebbe ricercata nel nome medioevale "Piccolus", appartenuto, probabilmente, ad un, oggi ignoto, capostipite. In ogni modo, tal casato fu illustrato da un Agostino, che, il 4 maggio 1787, venne ascritto, insieme con il suoi discendenti, alla nobiltà messinese; con privilegio dato il 22 novembre 1797, esecutoriato il 20 gennaio 1798, ottenne, inoltre, la concessione del titolo di marchese e fu Senatore nobile in Messina, nel biennio 1798-99. Non sappiamo se la famiglia di Naso sia una diramazione di quella di Messina. Un dottor Giovan Vito tenne la carica di proconservatore in Naso, nel 1687, e tale carica tenne nel 1752 un Ignazio. D'azzurro al guerriero armato d'argento, all'elmo chiuso, impugnante nella destra una spada alta in palo, tenente nel braccio sinistro lo scudo, il tutto dello stesso, posto sopra un terrazzo al naturale, sinistrato nel capo da una stella d'oro.

Note: nel disegno del Nobiliario la stella che in assenza di specifica dovrebbe essere di cinque raggi ne ha sei.
