Ancient and illustrious family from Moneglia and Quarto al Mare, where a place also known today as Pietraroggia is found. Luchino Ambassador of the Guelphs * to King Roberto in 1331, abbot of the colony of Pera in 1335; Nicolò podestà of Chiavari in 1343; Malchiorre ambassador to the Soldano of Egypt and to the queen of Hungary in 1382; Andreolo consul of Reason in 1492 and 1420. They were ascribed to the Promontory in 1528. * Medieval political factions, born in Germany in the XII century. and then spread in Italy in the following two centuries. The names derive from that of the German house of the Welfen (Guelfi), who supported the house of Bavaria and Saxony in the fight against the imperial throne against the Dukes of Swabia, to which the castle of Weiblingen belonged (Italianized in Guaibelinga, from which Ghibellini) .
